The most common cause of stroke is a blocked artery, which is known as an ischemic stroke. This occurs when a blood clot forms in an artery and blocks the flow of blood to the brain. Other causes of stroke include a leaking or burst artery, which is known as a hemorrhagic stroke, and a TIA (transient ischemic attack), which is a temporary blockage of an artery.

Risk factors for stroke include

high blood pressure,

 high cholesterol,

smoking,

diabetes,

obesity,

heart disease, and a family history of stroke.

Treatment for stroke includes

medications to thin the blood and prevent further blood clots, as well as lifestyle changes to reduce risk factors such as quitting smoking and eating a healthy diet. Surgery may also be necessary in some cases.

Prevention of stroke includes

lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking,

 controlling high blood pressure,

eating a healthy diet,

maintaining a healthy weight, and getting regular physical activity.
